PICTURES WHICH HELPED INSPIRE
MY LOIS AND CLARK
 STORIES

VISUAL INSPIRATION

Pictures often provide a great source of inspiration for me. Sometimes I use them to describe outfits or find that they give me inspiration to write a scene. Other times, as in the case of Echoes of the Past, they inspire an entire story.

SUPERSTUD:

The above picture acted as the inspiration for the outfits Lois and Clark wore during their 'date'.

And this picture served as the source of inspiration for the following love scene.

FIRST COMES MARRIAGE:

This picture served as my source of inspiration for the negligee Lois wore on her wedding night in First Comes Marriage.

ROADTREKKING:  (WRITTEN WITH GERRY ANKLEWICZ)

Although I didn't find this until we were finishing up Roadtrekking, the above picture just seems to capture the essence and fun of that story. I'm not sure, however, which of the two dogs is Cookie. But I like the idea that one of them is Cookie and the other is his new girlfriend, Crumbs.

On the other hand, there was someone who provided a great deal of inspiration for the character of Cookie. Her name is Shasta and this is her picture.

ECHOES OF THE PAST:

When I saw this picture for the first time, I found myself thinking how incredibly sad she looked. It was around that concept, and using this picture as my source of inspiration, that I wrote Echoes of The Past. Also, there is one scene in Echoes where Clark comes out of the washroom after they finish painting his apartment. This is what he sees.

THE SECOND STAGE OF GRIEF:

Obviously, this picture didn't inspire my rewrite of That Old Gang of Mine. But I thought you might like to see it anyway.

THE BIG COULDN'T:

In The Big Couldn't, this is what Clark sees when he comes back from a Superman rescue to where his wife is waiting for him during their honeymoon in Hawaii.

And the following picture is the one Clark stuck inside Anne Cooke's journal when he took it to the jail for her.

WITHOUT A SUPERMAN

This picture is my image of what the alternate Lois looks like in Without A Superman.
